“Suppose you had to choose between two Presidential candidates, one of whom had spent 20 years in Congress plus had considerable other relevant experience and the other of whom had about half a dozen years in the Illinois state legislature and 2 years in Congress. Which one do you think would make a better President? If you chose #1, congratulations, you picked James Buchanan over Abraham Lincoln.”
From the article How Good Are Experienced Presidents ? over on the Electoral Vote Predictor site, which tracks political polls for U.S. federal elections. The entire article is well worth your time...

I'm off politics for today, sorry.
However, I tag you!
awesome post david.
Excellent! Someone tell Clinton. The shorter the time you spend in the Senate, the better. It really messes you up for doing anything else but becoming a lobbyist.
Excellent quote, David!
As an aside, since you are moderating all your comments, do I HAVE to keep filling in that damned word verification thing?! I'm getting old, it's getting harder and harder to read it, and I usually have to do it twice before I succeed.
Thus endeth the begging... ;-)
Just because you asked, dear lady, I have removed the word verification :)
Mwah! You are a peach.
Signed,
The Little Old Lady from East of Pasadena
